And what solution did you choose? Just faster disks? Or SSDs?

I’ve seen such a behaviour when in the same storage system FATA and FC drives were present. When the FATA is heavily loaded I’ve started seeing slow log file syncs and respectively graphics like above.

I forgot to setup the log files. They were on the same disc as the datafiles and the default 50MB. This graph above shows you that you do nearly nothing else anymore as waiting for the log files.
So what I did was to make the 1GB big + moved them on raw devices and all was fine again.
